Life after death: The rise and fall of a king

Today the world mourns the loss of one of its most popular and well loved citizens. Habitually, we merely become conscious of how greatly we miss a human being whilst they’re no longer among us. So as too many relationships go through this without ever knowing the raison d'ĂȘtre. As peculiar as it may sound, a large number of us presently feel this emptiness subsequent of the passing away of Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009).
50 years ago, the human race witnessed the creation of the "Golden Child". Perchance heaven sent, depending on how you view it, he grew into our lives devoid of an invite and we acknowledged and accepted him. Michael Joseph Jackson changed the lives of many people and the life of music itself. One can say that music and the videos that accompany it would not be the same had MJ not been born. The truth is, music will never again be the same.

Commencing at a youthful age, MJ had a message to convey and we under no circumstances denied him the opportunity to be heard. We enjoyed it for the moment without knowing that every bit of a good thing comes to an end. Regardless of a life plagued with fame, fortune and scandal, Michael Jackson was, and will remain a positive influence on music and people alike. With hits such as "Heal the world", "Dirty Diana" and "Thriller", MJ used his songs to create the change in the world that everyone desperately wanted to see. "We are the world" became a song that sparked the flame of change and became the original Live Aid theme. Like any human being, MJ had his faults but those faults will never overshadow the exceptional artist and human being he was.

Michael Jackson died on Thursday June 25th 2009. It can easily be said that each of us had a bond with this man that made us sense joy. The love to entertain us made us feel more special, like a love story, it made us feel appreciated. Like his sister Janet has sang, you don’t know what you’ve got till its gone. And now that the King of Pop, once considered a living legend has passed, we truly realize what we’ve lost. But if there is one thing history has taught us, it is that only the good die young.

Michael Jackson goes on to join the ranks of such timeless idols as Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and Princess Diana. Like many before him, MJ’s larger than life persona will only grow posthumously. There is no doubt that everyone, MJ fan or not will remember where they were and who they were with the moment they learned of Michael’s passing. There is no doubt also, of the irony of the timing of his death. In his last press conference Michael announced a 50 show tour in London set to take place less than a month from now. His last words were "Thank you and we’ll see you in July". Sadly, July will never come. But thankfully, Michael blessed us with 50 years of life and 75 albums which will survive him.

Never one to shy away from his fame, Michael left the world as he entered it.. with a thrill.
